Description
Ferrous Sulphate (FeSO₄) is a critical component in the lead-acid battery manufacturing process, particularly in the production of Red Lead (Pb₃O₄) and Grey Lead Oxide (PbO·Pb), which are used in the positive plates of the batteries.
-
Red Lead (Pb₃O₄): Produced by oxidizing ferrous sulphate in the presence of lead oxide. Red lead is known for its high acid absorption and low internal resistance, making it ideal for applications requiring high-rate discharge and deep cycling.
-
Grey Lead Oxide (PbO·Pb): Formed by the oxidation of ferrous sulphate in a ball mill. Grey oxide is characterized by its fine particle size and high surface area, which contribute to improved charge acceptance and enhanced battery efficiency.
The choice between red lead and grey oxide depends on the specific requirements of the battery application. Red lead is preferred for applications requiring high-rate discharge, while grey oxide is suitable for applications needing improved charge acceptance.
Our Ferrous Sulphate is manufactured under stringent quality controls to ensure consistent purity and reliability. It is available in solid (heptahydrate) and powdered forms, catering to different manufacturing processes. Supplied in standard 50 kg packaging, it is suitable for both small-scale and large-scale battery production.
